Where does the data come from?

Lodging figures come from hotel occupancy-tax (HOT) receipts filed with the Texas Comptroller, obtained through the Comptroller's gated SIFT portal and loaded into our database. Alcohol figures come from mixed beverage gross receipts, which Texas law makes public per location, pulled from the state's open-data portal. Both datasets are refreshed monthly as new filings post.

Is this public information I could get myself?

The two halves differ. Per-property hotel occupancy-tax receipts are not posted publicly and there is no public API — the state is barred from releasing them that way. Getting them means gated downloads and heavy parsing, which we do so the results are searchable. Mixed-beverage (alcohol) receipts are public per location and available on data.texas.gov; we clean, index, and present them alongside the lodging data so both live in one place.

What's the difference between Free, Trial, and Pro?

Free lets you search and see each property's basic facts and ownership history. The 7-day free trial (no card) lets you explore charts, tables, and exports on a property's earliest years so you can judge the data. The revenue summary, comparables, the most recent years, and full history are Pro — which also includes unlimited exports and saved-search alerts.

How much does it cost?

$9.99/month, or $99/year — that's two months free against $119.88 billed monthly. Both start with the same 7-day free trial, and no credit card is needed to begin it. Cancel anytime from your account, and you can switch between monthly and annual whenever you like; access continues to the end of any period you've paid for.

Do bars and restaurants cost extra?

No. One Pro subscription includes both Texas lodging revenue and mixed-beverage alcohol sales for 40,000+ bars, restaurants, and hotel bars. Alcohol figures run monthly back to 2007 — further than the lodging history. If we ever split what's bundled together today into separately priced plans, an existing subscription keeps those features at the price you signed up for, for as long as it stays active.

Do most hotels have alcohol data?

No — only about 3.5% of lodging properties also hold a mixed-beverage permit, and they are almost all full-service hotels. Motels and RV parks very rarely do. Where a lodging property does have matching alcohol filings we surface them on the same timeline, and standalone bars and restaurants appear as their own venues.

Can I see how a whole city or county is doing?

Yes, and those market pages are free to browse without an account. They aggregate lodging revenue and alcohol sales by city and county, alongside the local hotel-tax rate and related public economic indicators. Where a market is small enough that a total would effectively reveal one business's figures, we withhold the number and say so rather than publishing it.

Can I be notified when something changes?

Pro members can save a search and turn on email alerts for it. When new data lands each month we re-run the search and email you what changed — a property that changed hands, one whose latest full year moved sharply, or a new match. The first check after you turn alerts on records the current state without emailing you, so the first alert you get is a real change rather than a backlog.

How current and granular is the data?

Lodging runs 2017 to the present — monthly where filers report monthly, quarterly where that is all that exists. Alcohol runs 2007 to the present, monthly throughout. New data is loaded every month as filings post, and the current year is year-to-date until the calendar year closes.

How accurate are the figures?

Figures are derived from official tax filings — occupancy tax and mixed-beverage gross receipts — and are provided for informational purposes only. Nothing is estimated or modelled: a small number of monthly lodging figures are reconstructed by arithmetic, where a quarterly total and two of that quarter's three months are on file and the third is the difference, and those are marked. Any filing can still contain errors or omissions, so verify independently before relying on a number for investment, lending, or other decisions.
